Our Story

In a world that often overlooks the needs of underserved communities, one individual's journey of compassion and dedication has led to the birth of a remarkable nonprofit organization: Sacred Spectrum Movement. This organization is a beacon of hope for families affected by autism, mental health challenges, and special needs. It is the brainchild of someone who, over 12 years ago, found her calling while working as an ABA therapist. Today, she holds a C-IAYT yoga therapy certification from Loyola Marymount University and is committed to expanding the reach of yoga therapy, dance, fitness, and movement to these deserving communities.

More than ten years ago, our founder embarked on a transformative journey that would ultimately lay the foundation for the initiative we now know as Sacred Spectrum Movement. At that time, she was immersed in a career as an ABA therapist, working closely with neurodivergent and special needs individuals. While the field of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) had its merits, our visionary founder had reservations about the traditional approach. Families and students favored her because of her passion and creativity. She blended her ABA sessions with song, yoga, dance, and fitness, creating an enriching and fun experience for all.

The Transformative Journey Begins

It was in these very moments, amidst the challenges and intricacies of working in neurodivergent communities, that our founder discovered something extraordinary—something that would forever alter the course of her life and the lives of those she would later touch through Sacred Spectrum Movement. It was a connection, not defined by conventional methods, but forged through the universal language of movement, music, and yoga.

A Profound Awakening

As she ventured beyond the confines of structured therapy sessions, she discovered the profound therapeutic potential hidden within movement. During these unconventional encounters, where therapy blurred into the joys of life, her true passion was ignited. Singing, dancing, engaging in physical activities, and practicing yoga with her young clients became more than just activities; they became a source of empowerment, self-expression, growth, and healing.

The Birth of a Vision

In those transformative moments, the seed of an idea was sown—a vision that would eventually evolve into Sacred Spectrum Movement. Our founder realized there was a holistic and nurturing way to empower neurodivergent individuals beyond traditional therapies. It was a vision where movement, music, and yoga would serve as catalysts for self-discovery, growth, and connection.

A Heart Afire with Purpose

Her heart aflame with purpose, our founder knew she had discovered her life's calling. This was not merely a career; it was a mission—a profound dedication to making a positive change in the world. The realization that movement and mindfulness could be potent tools for healing and empowerment became the driving force behind her journey—a journey that would ultimately lead to the creation of Sacred Spectrum Movement. As a teenager, she began her yoga practice to navigate the challenges of self-harm, anxiety, depression, sports injuries, being a highly sensitive person (HSP), and the stresses of pre-professional dance training. Her firsthand experience with the healing power of yoga, and later qigong and other healing arts, informs her approach to teaching and sharing the somatic and healing arts.

Expanding Horizons

Fast forward more than ten years, and our founder has earned her C-IAYT yoga therapy certification from Loyola Marymount. Throughout this journey, she has stayed in touch with the families she once worked with, including a special family who lacked access to the support they needed. It was through these connections and her commitment to volunteering weekly yoga therapy, dance, and fitness sessions that the vision for Sacred Spectrum Movement began to take shape.
